Recovered shot: Les voyages immobilesoriginally uploaded on Flickr: August 2008
Summer in the city, a city turned again so beautiful for just a few weeks: empty, silent, available, mine again.
Every year it’s so special because it feels like coming home for a short time.
One of my fave views of Florence, my hometown, while not plagued by cars and people in August. One of the best films ever made, Kodak EPP, crossprocessed and twisted. All the above is now gone and faded: Florence in quiet August, Kodak, EPP analogue film. The world is a sad place, ain’t it.

Recovered video: “Greetings”

originally uploaded to Vimeo on October 25th, 2006

Some found postcards showing bits of someone’s family life, affections and acquaintances.
This feels like watching someone else living his/her own life.

Please note: the spoken words read the original texts found on the postcards, with a heavy Chinese accent. Written words are the English translations.

I wish dedicate this to a dear friend who last night suffered a deep loss.

A short video I made from an idea I had with my friend/then colleague Marco Biondi using some found postcards thrown away but somehow escaped from destruction.
This is by far yet my favourite short video.
Thanks to my friend Shu-Chun for her endless patience - the Italian voiceover was not easy for her but eventually I succeeded in editing the way I wanted it.

Recovered shot: Stars in the sinkoriginally uploaded on Flickr: July 2007
We all look at the stars, even though we all are in a sink…
This photo has been featured on the Polaroid Gallery of the New York Times’ “LENS” (check on page 2).
This one Polaroid shot is possibly my favourite in my collection, one I am proud of and for a long list of reasons: from how I took it to the satisfactions it has given me, being selected for important galleries such as the New York Times “LENS” cited above and publications around the world.

Recovered shot: Just about to fly (Anair)originally uploaded on Flickr: July 2006
The very final moment of a vacation.
And today the very beginning, flying off again, heading to Barcelona.I have been flying a lot in my life, and still every single time I am on a plane it scares the hell out of me - but then I always pretend I am the coolest cat on board…
Taken in Eindhoven using a Konica disposable panorama camera.

Recovered shot: Dandy With Ermineoriginally uploaded on Flickr: March 24th, 2006
This lomopicture is subject of discussions amongst art historians, as some attribute it to ale2000 and identify it as the portrait of Mattia, lover of Simone. Others believe it is a work inspired by Leonardo [da Vinci] taken by an anonymous Ikea employee.
The face and the smile remind that of “Mattiangelo” and its preparatory studies.
Since various centuries ermins, weasels and martens were tamed as company animals and it is very likely that some would also be found also inside the Ikea palace. But knowing Mattia is lover of Simone and the latter has an ermin as an emblem, we can look at this animal from a different perspective.
The photo is known as the “Dandy with ermine” and features as the second main character a white-ish little animal, considered by everyone as an ermine.
But it was a stuffed ferret.
The reason for this is that the ermine is an aggressive animal which would hardly have accepted the long posing sessions the dandy had to undergo to be portraited by the photographer. Furthermore, the ermine stays white only during a short time of the year, while the stuffed ferret can be considered as a company animal.
We can then say that this wondeful masterpiece from ale2000 should not be titled the “Dandy With Ermine”, but the “Dandy with the stuffed ferret posing as the ermine”.
