“The Crisco nights galleries” is a pretty big gallery of photos I took in the (in)famous gay club in Firenze: the Crisco, known for being the first sex club ever in Italy since the 70s.
Nowadays the club has somewhat changed its nature and after many years of being a man-only bar, is now a hetero-friendly small club welcoming all kinds of people gathering for special nights such as the L.I.S.A.

I started going to this new Crisco almost by chance one night in occasion of my birthday, as that was the only open club that would stay open until very late. I suddenly found myself wrapped in an atmosphere of hard fun, resembling very closely the Plegyne, another deeply underground club closed many years ago, where in my very early 20s I spent so many sleepless nights in the company of many friends until… well, until house music ruined it all and until I decided that it would be wiser studying for my University degree rather than being a drunk.

I am degressing.

The Crisco nights galleries cover a 6-months period of 2009.
During those months I took photos of all the regulars there, including friends, lovers and one-night stands, strangers of all kinds and sexes.
It was delirious and I was officially credited as the photographer of the club - and some of these pics appeared in magazines, flyers, cityguides all over the world and so on.

Why only 6 months?
For two reasons:
a. from photographer, I turned into one of the resident djs of the club, resuming a hobby I hadn’t practiced in a while;
b. while the series of photos had to end someday, doing both djing and shooting was too hard for me and would take a good part of the fun away.
So I had to take a decision, and it was for the dj.

I stil am djing at the Crisco every second Saturday for the L.I.S.A. nights: you can find me there from 2am until about 3,30am and if you happen to the Crisco, come by and say hi!
